The Coach Awards look at the Who, How, What and Where of Coaching Paddlesport with the training split into 2 parts:
The Core Coach is a 2-day multi-discipline training. With classroom and practical water-based session it focuses on:
Who are we coaching, identifying learner needs and how we can tailor our delivery to them.
How do we coach, introducing a wide range of coaching models, delivery styles and decision making to support our learners.
This is followed by a range of 22 2-day Discipline Specific Training Modules that focus on:
What are the specific skills and techniques our learners will need;
How do we teach these and;
Where are we coaching, taking into account specific environments and the constraints we need to consider.
The Sheltered Water Canoe and Kayak Discipline Specific Training looks at common Fundamental coaching elements as well as the craft specifics of canoes and kayaks on sheltered water up to 200m from shore, gentle flows and winds up to force 3. Whether you are multi-disciplinary or only have an interest in Canoe or Kayak this is a great course for Club and industry coaches alike.
This is followed by a period of practice and consolidation then a 1-day assessment.
